Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN): Following further arrests of Kurdish environmental activists in recent days, two other environmental activists, Zakaria Naqshbandi and Iraj Rahimzadeh, were detained by security forces in Sanandaj and Marivan.

According to reports received by KHRN, security guards arrested Zakaria Naqshbandi a member of the Kurdistan’s Green Population Association in Sanandaj at his workplace on February 17. The agents subsequently searched the house of this activist’s family and seized a number of his personal belongings.

On February 18, another environmental activist, Iraj Rahimzadeh, was arrested by Security forces at his home in Marivan. Security agents have not announced any reasons for his arrest.

The families of these two environmental activists have repeatedly referred to the Sanandaj and Marivan Intelligence Offices over the last two days and demanded information on the situation of the detainees, but the authorities have denied the arrest of afore-mentioned activists.

In addition to these recent arrests, other Kurdish activists including Sahar Kazemi and Kaveh Babamoradi are still held at Sanandaj Prison while Amanj Ghorbani, Rashed Montazeri, Isa Feizi, Sirwan Ghorbani, and Arman Vafaei are held at the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Centre in Sanandaj.
