Sahar Kazemi, an environmental activist temporarily released on bail on Nov 24, 2018 in order to attend the funeral of her father, was returned to Sanandaj Correctional Center after a week.
Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that Sahar Kazemi was summoned to the Sanandaj Provincial Court on Sunday, Dec 2, 2018 after a week of temporary release to attend his father’s funeral and was transferred to the Sanandaj Correctional Center by a temporary arrest warrant.
On Thursday, Aug 9, 2018, Sanandaj security forces raided the house of Sahar Kazemi in Sanandaj and arrested this activist while inspecting the house and seizing some of her personal belongings before transferring her to the Intelligence Ministry’s Detention Centre in the city of Sanandaj.
Sahar Kazemi’s husband and mother, known as Madih Fathi and Mahvash Amiri respectively, were arrested on Nov 15 after being summoned by the headquarters of the Sanandaj Intelligence Office and subsequently transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Facility in Sanandaj. Following the death of Sahar Kazemi’s Father, her husband and her mother were released on Nov 24, 2018 to attend the funeral. Sahar Kazemi was transferred to the prison again after a week of temporary release.
A reliable source told KHRN that the pressure on Sahar Kazemi, which was subsequently raised with the detention of her mother and her husband, has been a way to force her to make confessions. However, she has refused to make a confession and the interrogators have threatened her that she will be held in prison for months in temporarily arrest.
Meanwhile, Madih Fathi, is still being interrogated at the Intelligence Ministry’s Detention Centre in the city of Sanandaj.
