A young Kolbar ((back carrier), who had been shot in his head, lost his life after one week of hospitalisation in Mahabad Hospital due to the severity of his injuries. He was shot by the Iranian armed forces a week ago in Kani Zard, in the Central District of Sardasht County.

“Zorar Mohammadi, a 20-year-old resident of ‘Nlas village’ in Sardasht, along with several other Kolbars were shot and injured by the Iranian armed forces On Tuesday June 27 in Kani Zard located in the Central District of Sardasht County. He was severely injured by the bullet shot in his head. “After wounding this Kolbar, the armed forces escaped from the scene. The complaint against the concerned armed forces has not been investigated so far and not even a single officer has been summoned or interrogated yet”, this source added.

“Lack of prosecution of the officers murdering kolbars has led the officers to safely blind target the Kolbars and kill them. During the past month The killings of Kolbars have increased dramatically and caused the widespread protests of political and civil activists“, the source added.

The city of Sardasht was the deadliest region of Kurdistan with 18 deaths and wounded Kolbers in 2016. The number of Kolbers losing their lives are increasing every year due to the failure of the Iranian government to prosecute armed forces committing these murders.
