Iran forces continue arresting Kurdish Baneh protesters

The Iranian security forces have continued arresting Kurds who have been identified as participants of the recent Baneh protests against the killing of two civilian Kurdish Kolbar workers.

Over 30 people have so far been arrested after the security forces had identified them as Baneh protesters, a local source has said.

Iranian under cover agents had arrested one of them at his home and beat his mother who had begged the security gunmen not to take his 23-year-old son.

IRGC agents dressed in civilian clothes had also attacked a small gathering of Kurdish activists that tried to voice support for the release of civil society activists detained following the recent protests.

Iran court hear Kurd prisoner, detained brother remains missing

Kurdish prisoner Afshin Panahi arrested nearly 100 days ago has appeared at an Islamic Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj but no news has yet been heard from and about his detained brother Ramin Panahi.

The court hearing for Afshin was held on 14 September at the Islamic Revolutionary Court in the city of Sanandaj.

Iran’s IRGC detained Ramin Panahi after he was wounded. He was a member of Kurdish Komala armed opposition party at the time of his arrest.

The Iranian security forces had raided the home of his immediate family after his arrest and detained his brother Afshin Panahi along with his other family members and relatives.

Iranian Kurdish Kolbar worker dies of heart attack at work

An Iranian Kurdish Kolbar (porter) worker has died of heart attack at work in the Darychin border area of Piranshahr.

Hamza Molodipour, 51, died of heart attack due to the pressure caused by the harsh working conditions of his Kolber job.

He was married and has left behind two children.

He had “no choice other than working as a Kolber because of poverty and unemployment and he had a pacemaker in his heart, a KRHN source said.

Some 4,000 Kolber workers are said working in the Darychin border area, from where they carry items on their back from and to Iran.

Iran releases five Kurdish activists on bail

The Iranian authorities released five Kurdish civil society activists on 16 September who were detained for having protested the recent killing of civilian Kolbar workers.

The activists were released from Dizelabad prison in Kermanshah on 16 September.

Iranian security gunmen had arrested the five activists at the time when they prepared to hold a gathering to condemn Iranian border guards killing unarmed Kurdish civilian Kolbar workers.

A source said the activists had faced torture with electric shocks at the hands of government security agents during interrogation at the time of their detention.
