Two prisoners suspected of suffering from coronavirus, who had been transferred to a hospital in the past few days, were transferred to a special quarantine facility yesterday. Currently, five inmates suspected of having Coronavirus are held in quarantine.
“In recent days, following the increase in the number of prisoners suspected of having Coronavirus at the Orumiyeh Central Prison, a special quarantine section has been arranged in the courtyard area to which suspected prisoners have been transferred.”, an informed source told Kurdistan Human Rights Network(KHRN). 

“Two prisoners including Salman Suleimanjad and Rashidi Azizi, who had previously been transferred to a hospital outside the prison to be tested for coronavirus, were returned back to the ward for collecting their personal belongings before moving to the special quarantine section last night.”, the source added.

“Currently, five prisons suspected of having the Coronavirus are kept in special quarantine section, and so far the prison authorities have not revealed the results of their coronavirus tests.”, the source continued.Moreover, following the promise of the prison authorities regarding the grant of temporary leave, the prisoners ended their protest and started accepting prison food.

Two other prisoners, Mehdi Rasouli and Mohammad Ghanbardoust, who had previously been transferred to the hospital for Coronavirus testing, have been returned back to the wards. A number of families of prisoners held in Orumiyeh, Saqqez, Sanandaj, Kermanshah and Rajai-Shahr prisons have informed KHRN about their concern over the lack of health facilities and the risk of a catastrophe in the prisons.
