Two Kurdish political prisoners detained at Orumiyeh Central Prison were exiled to the Central Prison of Kerman after their sentences were finalised.

“On the evening of 21 January 2018, two Kurdish political prisoners called Farooq Sharavari and Tahir Khorshidi sentenced to imprisonment with exile by Orumiyeh Military Court (Branch 1) on charges of cooperating with one of the Kurdish parties were exiled to Kerman Prison after their sentences were finalised.”, an informed source told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

According to this source, another defendant in the case called Amir Peyghami appealed against his verdict (4 years in prison with exile to the Kerman Central Prison) and his case has been referred the Court of Appeals in Kerman Province but his appeal has not been addressed so far.

“The other two political prisoners did not contest the verdict issued on December 11 by the Initial Court issued, so their sentences were finalized.”, the source said.

Farooq Sharvirani was arrested on May 11 while both Amir Peyghami and Taher Khorshidi were arrested on 8 and 10 June 2017 respectively by security forces in Shno on charges of cooperating with one of the Kurdish parties. However, their charge was later changed to espionage for one of the Kurdish parties.

The court hearing for the above-mentioned three prisoners was held on 5 December 2017 at Orumiyeh Military Court (Branch 1) which sentenced Amir Peyghami and Farooq Sharvirani to4 years of imprisonment with exile to Kerman Prison and Taheer Khorshidi to seven years of imprisonment with exile to Kerman Prison on charges of cooperating with one of the Kurdish parties.

On 11 July 2017, Amir Peyghami and Taher Khorshidi were transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison after being held a month in solitary confinement cells at the Orumiyeh Intelligence Detention Centre. Farooq Sharvirani was also transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison on 11 July after being interrogated on charges of membership in a Kurdish party.

The cases of these three detainees were referred to he Court since Taher Khorshidi has been a member of Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (RGC).
