Seyed Sami Hosseini and Siamak Ashrafi ended their hunger strike after the prison authorities promised them to take positive steps towards fulfilling their demands. These political prisoners, who are serving their sentence at Oromiyeh Central Prison and Qazvin Prison, had gone on hunger strike due to the refusal of authorities to grant them their basic rights, such as the right to contact the family and to transfer to the political ward.

“Yesterday (on December 06), Seyed Semi Hosseini, who began his hunger strike on Sunday, Nov 26, 2017 in protest to being deprived of the right to visit and contact his family, met with the authorities at the Qazvin (known as the Choobindar) and ended his hunger strike after the prison authorities promised him to issue a telephone card in the coming days.”, An informed source told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

“On the seventh day of his hunger strike, Simak Ashrafi met with the head of Orumiyeh Central Prison at the youth ward and the head of the prison promised him that he would be transferred to ward 12 in the coming week. Accordingly, this political prisoner announced that he would temporarily end his hunger strike which he would resume if the head of the prison does not fulfil his promise.”, This source said about the situation of the other political prisoner known as Siamak Ashrafi.

Siamak Ashrafi sewed his lips On Tuesday, Nov 28, 2017 when he began his hunger strike in protest to the refusal of authorities to transfer him to the political ward.

Siamak Ashrafi (the Kurdish citizen residing in Orumiyeh) was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment by Judge Sheikhlou at Orumiyeh Revolutionary Court (branch 2) on charges of cooperating with the Kurdish parties. Siamak Ashrafi has been in jail since a year ago.

“Seyed Semi Hosseini was arrested on Dec 4, 2008, by security forces in Salmas and he has been sentenced to 25 years in jail for a number of separate cases.
