A Kurdish civilian Basam Moradi from Kamyaran and Sardar Ozmush from Turkey have been sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment each by the Orumiyeh and Sanandaj Revolutionary Courts respectively, reliable sources told Kurdistan Human Rights Network(KHRN).

“The trial of Bassam Moradi was held at branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj in late January. He was sentenced to five years in prison for “membership in the Party for Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK)” in addition to 10 years in prison for “espionage”.

Moradi was arrested on April 29, 2019, by security forces. He had a brief meeting with his family at the detention centre in Sanandaj in late August when he informed them of the interrogators’ pressure on him to make false confessions about involvement in a security scenario.

He was released on a bail of 500 million tomans from Kamyaran prison.Furthermore, KHRN has been informed that Sardar Ozmush has been sentenced Sardar Ozmush to 15 years in prison on charges of “membership in the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK)” by Judge Ali Sheikhlo at Branch 2 of the Orumiyeh Revolutionary Court. The sentence has been served on the political prisoner.

The verdict was issued to Ozmush even though he had left the Kurdistan Workers’ Party about 12 years ago and settled in one of the Kurdish cities of Kurdistan. He had obtained Iraqi citizenship and passports during these 12 years, and his travel to Iran was legal.

He was arrested by the security forces of Orumiyeh on December 11 and transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison after ten days of interrogation in a security detention centre in the city.
