The bodies of the two Kurdish Kolbars, who had gone missing when going to the border areas of Orumiyeh, were found by the local people after a three-day search.

“On Saturday, January 27, two Kolbars called Jadih and Sabri Valinjad from Oruk village (in MarmiSho area, Orumiyeh Province) disappeared due to the falling avalanche and snow in the mountains”. An informed source confirmed the news to Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

“Although the information provided to the Red Crescent Society of Orumiyeh and the request of the families of the kolbars to find them, no response was received from the Red Crescent officials. Eventually, their frozen bodies were found and taken out of the avalanches by their relatives and local people on Wednesday, January 31 after a three-day search.” The source said.

“Unfortunately, the Red Crescent Office does not take any action with regard to most cases involving the disappearance of kolbar on the pretext that their job is Illegal. In such a situation, these families, as well as the local people look for the missing people,” he added.

This is the fourth death which has happened due to frostbite and being caught in avalanches during the past few months. Earlier on January 11, a kolbar from Naqade (in the border area of the Kani Khoda) disappeared in the dark and his body was found two days later on January 13 under the avalanche. This kolbar was identified as Soleyman Khezri, 40 years old and married with two children.

Also on Nov 28, 2017, Abdullah (known as Hiwa) Mostafavi, 32 years old from Posh-Abad village of Oshnavieh, was lost on his way back from the border due to darkness and cold. His body was found by the local people in the village of Mirawi after several hours.
