Two environmental activists, Armin Esperlus and Homayoun Bahmani, have been released on bail after several weeks of arrest.

Armin Esperlus, who was arrested by security forces on Feb 21, 2019, was released from Sanandaj Central Prison yesterday on a bail of 250 million Tomans. Homayoun Bahmani was arrested on Saturday, December 01 by security forces at the Saqez-Sanandaj road and he was held at the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Centre in Sanandaj for more than four months.

Despite the release of these two environmental activists, 10 other environmental activists and members of the Kurdistan branch of the National Unity Party are still held at the detention of the intelligent Bureau and Islamic Republic Guards Corps (IRGC) in Sanandaj.

Over the past few months, nearly 20 environmental activists and members of the Kurdistan branch of the National Unity Party have been arrested by security forces in Kamyaran, Marivan, and Sanandaj. Some of them were released on bail during the past month, but others are still detained. Idris Mohammadi and Awat Karami are held at the detention center of IRGC Intelligence Bureau while Hossein Kamangar, Farhad Mohammadi, Farzad Hosseini ,Homayoun Bahmani, Rashed Montazeri, Isa Feizi, Sirwan Ghorbani, Hadi Kamangar and Jalal Rostami are held at the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Centre in Sanandaj.
