In the past few days, two Kurdish Border Porters –known as Kolbar- have been killed and five others wounded by direct shooting of Iranian border guards in the border areas of Chaldoran and Orumiyeh of West Azerbaijan and Nawsoud in Kermanshah, informed sources told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

“At 10 pm on June 25, 2020, a group of Kolbars from the village of Navar Chaldoran were shot by the checkpoint forces of the village, as a result of which a Kolbar named Shaker (Ali) Brooki Milan was killed and his cousin, Hassan Brooke of Milan, was injured.” the source said.

According to the source, after shooting Ali Brooki and confiscating his belongings, border guards also shot several horses and abandoned the injured Kolbar in the dark of night. He died a few hours later from bleeding. The 30-year-old married kolbar was from the village of Navar and the father of two children.

Another source in Orumiyeh told KHRN that “On Saturday night, June 27, 2020, a Kolbar named Salim Suleiman-Nejad was killed and another one called Davood Majdian was wounded in a shooting by the forces of the Satura checkpoint in the Silvana border area of Orumiyeh.” Salem Suleimannejad, 27, was the father of one child.

Another source reported that three Kolbars were injured in the border areas of Nawsoud. According to this source, on June 28, 2020, as a result of the shooting of the Iranian border guards in the border area around Nosud 3 Kolbars, Tawfiq Rastak, Aref Khodadadi and Jamil Abdi were wounded. The Kolbars were taken to a hospital in Paveh for treatment.
