Ward 12 of Orumiyeh Central Prison is known as the political prisoners’ section. Over the past few years, the Intelligence Office of Orumiyeh has been trying to dissolve this prison. Moreover, the majority of detained political prisoners in this prison are held alongside Ordinary Crime prisoners without regard to the rule of segregation of prisoners based on the type of their crimes.

Last year, the prison chief ordered the transfer of unoccupied beds in the political prisoners’ ward the Ordinary Crime Ward and these beds were sold to prisoners at the price of several million Tomans.
