Three Labour activists and members of the Sanandaj Bakery Syndicate- Yadi Samadi, Amir Shahabi and Armin Sharife– went on trial at Branch 4 of the Sanandaj Court of Appeal.

“On the afternoon of February 27, we presented ourselves at Branch 4 of the Sanandaj Court of Appeal following the receipt of a written summon earlier on. Armin Sharife was charged with the membership in illegal organisations while Jamil Shahabi and l were charged with propaganda against the state and membership in the opposition parties.” Yadi Samadi the labour activist told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

According to this labour activist, the trial lasted for one hour without the presence of a lawyer. All the three activists denied the alleged charges and stated that their activities were in line with defending the rights of legal labourers Last August, branch 1 of Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj acquitted us of the charges due to the lack of credible allegations and evidence against us. However, Sanandaj Public Prosecutor contested the verdict and our case was referred to Branch 4 of the Sanandaj Court of Appeal.”, he added.

On May 01 “the International worker Day”, Yadi Samadi -the Secretary to the Sanandaj Bakery Syndicate- and Amir Shahabi – member of the Sanandaj Bakery Syndicate- were both arrested by security forces. Moreover, a few days later on May 8, 2018, Armin Sharife – another labour activist and the ead of Sanandaj Bakery Syndicate was also arrested by security forces in Sanandaj. All these detainees were later released on a bail of 20 million Tomans on May 15, 2018.
