Yesterday, a military court in Orumiyeh extended the detention of three Kurdish detainees from Shno city (also known in Farsi as Oshnavieh) for a further two months.

“On Monday, September 18, three Kurdish detainees including Amir Peyghami, Taher Khorshidi and Farooq Sharvirani, were transferred from Orumiyeh Central Prison to Orumieh Military Court (branch 1) where their temporary detention order was extended for a further two months on charges of espionage for one of the Kurdish parties.”, an informed source told Kurdistan Human Rights Network.

“The cases of these three detainees has been referred to Military Court since Taher Khorshidi has been a member of a military organisation in Iran”, this source added.

Farooq Sharvirani was arrested on May 11 while both Amir Peyghami and Taher Khorshidi were arrested on and on 8 and 10 June 2017 respectively by security forces in Shno on charges of cooperating with one of the Kurdish parties. However, their charge was later changed to espionage for one of the Kurdish parties.

On 11 July 2017, Amir Peyghami and Taher Khorshidi were transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison after being held a month in solitary confinement cells in the Intelligence Agency detention centre of Orumiyeh. Farooq Sharvirani was transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison on 11 July after being interrogated on charges of membership in a Kurdish party.
