Farhad Ariaei and Ali Baderkhani, two political prisoners at the Orumiyeh Central Prison, ended their hunger strike after the prison authorities promised them to take positive steps towards fulfilling their demands. However, Mustafa Bagheri Asnah and Seyed Ardeshir Mousavi, two other detained cultural activists who have been on hunger strike since Aug 8, 2018, are still on hunger strike.

According to reports received by Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) , Ali Baderkhani, has ended his 7-day hunger strike on Tuesday, August 14, after the prison authorities promised to transfer him to ward 12. Ali Baderkhani had gone on a 7-day hunger strike on August 7, 2018, in protest to not being transferred to the political prisoners’ ward in addition to being under the pressure of prison authorities.

Farhad Ariaei, another political prisoner detained in the labours’ ward , who had been on hunger strike since Wednesday Aug 15, 2018 in protest to the denial of the right to probation and leave after serving six years of imprisonment, also ended his hunger strike yesterday with the promise of prison authorities to review his case. Despite such promise, he was transferred to the labours’ ward from solitary confinement after ending his hunger strike .

According to reports from Kermanshah, two other detained cultural activists, Mustafa Bagheri Ashnah and Seyed Ardeshir Mousavi, who have been on hunger strike since August 08, in protest to their uncertain situation in prison and refusal of Prosecutor’s Office to agree with the release on bail continue their hunger strike at Section 3 of Dizel Abad Prison, Kermanshah. Although these two prisoners are suffering from weight loss and very low blood Pressure, Dizelabad prison authorities have not taken any steps to address their requests so far.
