A group of Sunni prisoners detained at Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj has on hunger strike for three days to condemn raping a number of women in Iranshahr.

The prisoners who were detained at Ward 21 of Section 7 Rajai Shahr prison said that they would strike from Saturday, July 21 to Monday 25 in protest to the rape as well support of the victims and their families. The detainees also called for the prompt investigation of the case, arrest and trial of its perpetrators.

Following a news release about the rape of a number of women in Iranshahr, Sistan and Baluchestan province, the Imam of Iranshahr announced in the Sermons of Eid al-Fitr this year that the accused perpetrators had raped 41 women.
