Following the new wave of arrests of Kurdish civilians, six other Kurdish people were arrested by security forces in the past few days in the cities of Bukan, Mahabad and Oshnavieh (Shno in Kurdish) in the province of West Azerbaijan.

On Monday, July 06, forces affiliated with the Intelligence Ministry surrounded the village of Haji Lak and arrested the Kurdish singer “Abdullah Chavoshi”. Also, in the past few days, a Kurdish civilian named Jassim Majnoon and 4 civilians of Shno named Rahim Rafat, Rahman Tabesh, Saeed Tabnak and Eskandar Mohammadpour have been arrested by the security forces. So far, no information has been achieved about the reason for the arrest and detention of these six civilians.

According to statistics compiled by the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN), at least 19 Kurdish activists and civilians have been detained by security forces in Sanandaj, Mahabad, Bukan, Marivan, Shno and Eslamabad e Gharb since late June. Kavan Kasraei was released on bail and Omid Mostafapoor was transferred to Naqadeh Prison, but no information is available over the fate of the other 17 detainees.
