Following the news about Ramin Hossein Panahi and Kamal Hassan Ramazan being transferred to an unknown location, it was revealed that Ramin Hossein Panahi had been transferred to Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj at night without a court order and informing his lawyer and family. However, there is still no information about the fate of the other political prisoner known as Kamal Hassan Ramazan who is sentenced to death.

“On Monday, Aug 17, 2018, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) transferred Ramin Hossein Panahi to Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj from Sanandaj Central Prison without informing his lawyers and family,”, Amjad Hossein Panahi, brother of Ramin Hossein Panahi, told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN)”.

Expressing his concern over the situation of the political prisoner (sentenced to death), he reported that his brother had initially been taken to the section 7 of the ward 21, the Sunni prisoners section, before being transferred to the section 10 of Ward 21 where the prisoners of ordinary offences are held.

He added that no reason had been given to either the family of this political prisoner or his lawyers and, given Hossein Panahi’s death sentence, he is at the risk of imminent execution.

Moreover, “the IRGC agents visited Orumiyeh Central Prison on Monday, Aug 13, and transferred Kamal Hassan Ramazan (a death row political prisoner) to the Detention Centre of the IRGC under the pretext of interrogations. Following a telephone call with the Enforcement Office of Criminal Procedures at the Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh (branch 9) on Thursday Aug 16, his lawyer found out that this Death Row political prisoner had been handed over to a security agency for carrying out investigations.”, an informed source told KHRN.

The source also expressed concern over the fate of this political prisoner while adding that the Ministry of Intelligence had sentenced this political prisoner to death several years ago without any evidence and only on the basis of the similarity of his name with someone who had killed a local member of the IRGC in 2011.

It is worth noting that, according to the Orumiyeh Intelligence Office, the person who killed an IRGC member during a conflict in Orumiyeh in 2011 was called Kamal Sor, about whose identify there is no information available and he was sentenced to death by branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh which issued a decree in absentia on Nov 12, 2011.
