Around 5,000 prisoners held at 19 wards of Orumiyeh Central Prison rejected their food on 4 October in protest to finding cockroaches in the food of some of their inmates, a source told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).
“On 4 October noon, all the prisoners refused to accept their food for they found cockroaches in the food,” an informed source told KHRN.
Despite the prisoner’s repeated complaints about this issue, the prison authorities have not taken any measures to make sure that such incident will not be repeated.
