This morning, on Tuesday, May 22, the prison authorities have confiscated the knitting tools of political prisoners at ward 3 of Miandoab Prison under the pretext of knitting the “Kurdistan Flag” although these knitting tools formed the sole source of these prisoner’s livelihoods.

An informed source told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) that, this morning, several Guards of Miandoab Prison have raided ward 3, inspected the beds and personal belongings of two Kurdish political prisoners under the pretext of receiving reports about the knitting of the “Kurdistan Flag”by these political prisoners. They seized the personal belongings of these two prisoners called Kamal Ahmadnejad and Helmat Abdollahi.

According to the source, while no evidence has been found to prove the validity of the above allegation, the knitting tools of these two political prisoners were seized by the prison authorities while reporting that the alleged Kurdish flag had been found.

The source stated that the prison officials harassed the handful Kurdish prisoners of this prison on various unfounded allegations.

In the autumn of 2014, Kamal Ahmadnejad, along with five other citizens called “Soleyman Carrie”, “Milad Abdi”, “Saeed Seyai” and “Mostafa Tahahzadehafter” from the “Gamish Goli” were arrested and detained for 6 months in the detention centre of the intelligence ministry in the city of Orumiyeh on charges of cooperating with the Democratic Party of Kurdistan and killing a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).
