Kurdish political prisoner Ghader Mohammadzadeh ended his hunger strike on 21 November after a month and nine days upon the promise given by officials of Yazd Central Prison to address his demands.

Mohammadzadeh had gone on a hunger strike on 16 October the announcement of his seven years imprisonment sentence in relation to a second case. The political prisoner was transferred to solitary confinement at Yazd Central Prison on 31 October upon an order by the prison’s chief. He had been transferred to the prison’s health clinic on 5November following deterioration of his health condition, however, he had refused to receive any kind of treatment.

Mohammadzadeh was sentenced to seven years in prison on charges of “premeditated murder”. The verdict was ultimately overturned by the Supreme Court which ruled the payment of blood money [Diyah].

The political prisoner was also sentenced to 20 years in another case on charges of “Moharebeh“. He has been in detention for 14 years and has been exiled from Mahabad Prison to Yazd Central Prison since April 07.
