Iraj Sufi Mohammad, a civilian of Mahabad, was sentenced to 15 years in prison by Branch 2 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh, presided over by Judge Ali Sheikhlou on charges of “acting against national security through membership in extremist groups”. He was detained by security forces about eight months ago.

The trial of the Kurdish civilian was held on Saturday, May 16, without the right to a lawyer, and the sentence was served on him at the Orumiyeh Central Prison.Sufi Mohammad had previously been arrested by security forces in 2017 and he was sentenced to 18 months in prison by Branch 1 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh. He was released from Orumiyeh Central Prison in 2018 after serving his sentence.
