Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN): There is still no news about the fate of Yaser Amini Azar, the mathematics teacher and religious activists, who was arrested four days ago despite the repeated enquiries of his family about his whereabouts.
This teacher was arrested by security forces in Mahabad when he was returning home from school on Wednesday, May 7, 2019. Security agents have stated that he had been arrested following his participation in protest sit-ins against the unsatisfactory situation of teachers and students. Yaser Amini Azar is suffering from asthma and heart disease.
It is worth mentioning that, following the meeting of the Council for the Coordination of Iranian Cultural Organizations to hold a gathering of teachers on May 2, 2019, “Teacher’s Day, hundreds of teachers from various cities including Saqqez, Mahabad, Sanandaj, Marivan, etc. held a protest sit-in.
