The Kurdish activist known as Najibeh Salehzadeh, tied by the Revolutionary Court of Saqqez in March on charges of propaganda against the system through cyberspace (through interviews with foreign media abroad), was acquitted of the charges against her.

Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that on April 22, Najibeh Salehzadeh, the wife of a prominent worker activist (Mahmoud Salehi), was acquitted of the charges of propaganda against the state by the Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Saqqez and the verdict was served on her.

The court had previously charged the accused due to her interviews with foreign media abroad to report Mahmoud Salehi health condition during his imprisonment in Saqqez prison.

“If defending my husband (Mahmoud Salehi) is propaganda against the regime, I have nothing to say,” said the civil activist at the court hearing in response to her charge.

The trial lasted half an hour, and the judge announced that the verdict will be served via the court’s electronic system in the coming weeks.

Najibeh Salehzadeh, (Mahmoud Salehi’s wife), a labour activist was previously arrested in June 2017 following an indictment filed by Saqez Intelligence bureau in of the Saqqez Court of Justice (Branch 2) on the alleged charge of “propaganda against the regime” and “insulting the supreme leader”. However, she was acquitted of the charges by the court due to lack of evidence in this regard.
