Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that “Borhan Kamangar”, a member of  “Coral” music band, has been sent to prison for serving his two-year sentence on March 18.

Earlier in December last year, he was sentenced to five years in prison by the branch 1 of of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj, presided by Judge Saeedi, for”membership in the Party for free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK)”. The sentence was reduced to two years in prison by the Court of Appeal of Sanandaj.

The artist, who is the nephew of Kurdish detainee Hossein Kamangar, was arrested by security forces during the mass detention of environmental and civil activists in Kamyaran on August 6 last year.

Security forces raided his shop while searching for the Kurdish artist’s cellphone and arrested him. Afterwards, they raided his family home and confiscated some of his personal belongings.

He was transferred to the Kamyaran Prison on September 23, following the end of interrogation process and issuance of a temporary arrest warrant. After two weeks in temporary detention, he was released on a bail of 500 million tomans on October 12.
