Six more people were detained by security forces affiliated with the Intelligence Office following recent arrests of Kurdish activists in Kamyaran this morning. Yesterday, Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) released news of mass arrests in Kamyaran including three Kurdish artists, Borhan Kamangar, Sirwan Moradi and Arman Qeitasi.

Reports indicate that- in addition to the above-mentioned people- three other activists called Behzad Kamangar, Amjad Saifi and Refiq Kaki were also arrested in Kamyaran yesterday and today.

“Yesterday, security forces raided the home of Behzad Kamangar, a civil activist and hospital employee, and confiscated a number of his personal belongings. Moreover, two members of the Kurdistan National Unity Party, Refiq Kaki and Amjad Saifi, were arrested by the security forces last night and this morning.”, a reliable source in Kamyaran has told KHRN.

Thus, at least 6 activists have been arrested in Kamyaran during the past two days. According to eyewitnesses, security forces have resorted to violence during when arresting these detainees who were then immediately taken to the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Centre in Sanandaj.

It is worth noting that about five former and current members of the Kurdistan National Unity Party of Kurdistan branch have been detained in Kamyaran, Sanandaj and Marivan. Although some of the detainees have been released on bail in recent months and weeks, the process of arresting other members of the party continues.
