Mohammad Nazari has been on a prolonged Hunger Strike at Rajai Shahr prison for 81 days ago while demanding for fair trial. In order to attract the attention of the public and human rights institutions to the difficult situation of his situation, this political prisoner has written an open letter in October 18, 2017.

A copy of this letter, which has been provided to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN), is as follows:

Dear Fellow Human Beings,

I, Mohammad Nazari, have spent the last 24 years in various prisons including Mahabad Prison, Orumiyeh Central Prison, and Rajaei Shahr Prison. I am the loneliest prisoner in this city and I feel lonelier every day. I have been on hunger strike for the past 81 days in the hope that someone may heed my rightful demands and help me.

I was eligible for release four and a half years ago based on articles 10, 99, 120 and 728 of Iran’s New Islamic Penal Code but unfortunately, authorities have prevented enforcing the regulations in my case. Now, I have no other options but to go on a hunger strike and hope that my fellow human beings hear my voice.

My parents and brother were laid to rest years ago at Boukan Cemetery. I am the loneliest prisoner while my other fellow prisoners like Arash Sadeqi (who was on hunger strike for more than 70 days) had a father and wife. Your helping hand is my only hope for freedom to I am legally entitled.”

Mohammad Nazari
