Kurdish Human Rights Network (KHRN): Two environmental activists “Hadi Kamangar and Sirwan Ghorbani” were transferred from the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Centre in Sanandaj to the Central prison of this city during the past few days. Farhad Mohammadi, Hossein Kamangar, Rashed Montazeri, Farzad Hosseini, Issa Fayzi and Jalal Rostami are still held at the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Centre in Sanandaj.

“Interrogators have told Farhad Mohammadi, Farzad Hosseini, Hossein Kamangar, Rashed Montazeri, Issa Faizi, and Jalal Rostami that they did not have any other choice but to accept all the allegations against them. Otherwise, they will remain in solitary confinement.” a source close to the family members of other detainees told KHRN.

The Intelligence office has practically kept these people in absolute ignorance by keeping them in solitary confinement and preventing them from visiting their families in order to force them to.make confessions and accept charges against them. Following such pressures, the interrogators informed “Farhad Mohammadi”, the secretary-general of the Kurdistan branch of the National Unity Party, of his daughter’s hospitalisation but they did not allow him to visit her daughter at the hospital. It has been reported that that health condition of this detainee is also critical due to his serious stomach disorder.

These activists were arrested five months ago although, according to the law passed by the Iranian parliament last year, “In all crimes, the prosecutor should release the ban on the detainee and annul the writ for evidence gathering if the defendant remains in detention for a month and the case against him is not concluded at the prosecutor’s office. If there are legitimate reasons to renew the writ for evidence gathering, the prosecutor can only extend it once and up to one month, with the reasons mentioned and the public prosecutor’s approval. “

According to another source, Awat Karami and Idris Mohammadi- two environmental activists from the village of Negel of Sanandaj who were detained in the Kalatarzan of Sanandaj on Jan 16, 2019- were transferred to the Central Prison of this city from the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Detention Center in the past few days. Avat Karami has been released on bail of 150 million Toman, but Idriss Mohammadi is still held in temporary detention because of opposition from the IRGC.

Over the past few months, nearly 20 environmental activists and members of the Kurdistan branch of the National Unity Party have been arrested by security forces in Kamyaran, Marivan, and Sanandaj. Some of them were released on bail during the past month, but others are still detained. Idris Mohammadi , Sirwan Ghorbani, Hadi Kamangar are still held at Sanandaj Central Prison while Hossein Kamangar, Farhad Mohammadi, Farzad Hosseini , Rashed Montazeri, Isa Feizi and Jalal Rostami are held at the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Centre in Sanandaj.
