Labour activist Kamran Sakhtemangar has been sentenced to six years of imprisonment by the Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj, including five years on charges of “membership in the Komala Kurdistan’s Organization of the Communist Party of Iran, and one year on charge of propaganda against the state.”

Per Article 2 of the Islamic Penal Code, five years of this sentence is enforceable.

Sakhtemangar was arrested by security forces in Saqqez and transferred to the Sanandaj Intelligence Bureau on 4 September 2019. His provisional arrest warrant was issued to a bail of 500 Million Tomans after a month of interrogation.

Although his family had secured the bail, Sakhtemangar was not released on time who was transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison. Sakhtemangar was finally released from Sanandaj Central Prison on 27 November on a bail of 200 million Tomans.
