Kurdish Sunni prisoner Khosro Zarestan detained in Orumiyeh Central Prison was suddenly transferred to an unknown location on 5 January, a source told he Kurdistan Human Rights Network.

Khosrow Zarestan was arrested in Oshnavieh (Shno in Kurdish) on 8 August and transferred to the detention centre of the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Orumiyeh. He was transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison after a few weeks of interrogation.

Zarestan was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment by Branch 2 of Orumiyeh Revolutionary Court in November on charges of “membership in religious extremist groups.”

Khosrow Zarestan was previously held in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj for another three years on another charge.
