Two Kurdish political prisoners, Mohammad (Esmat) Salahshour and Shaker Behrouzi, are being pressured to confess to killing a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corp (IRGC). The two prisoners were transferred from Orumiyeh Central Prison to IRGC Detention Centre in Orumiyeh in March and May respectively.

“Mohammed Salahshour was transferred back to Orumiyeh Central Prison after four days of interrogation but Shaker Behrouzi is still detained under interrogation without the right to call and visit his family. These two prisoners are accused of murdering a member of IRGC in 2016. Shaker is being pressured and tortured to accept the murder charge.”, a reliable source from Orumiyeh told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

According to this source, a member of IRGC organization called Hossein Barivan was killed by unknown people in the village of Dizaj Morghoor of Orumiyeh in September 2014.

Shaker Behrouzi was previously a member of one of the Kurdish opposition parties. Last year, he returned to Orumiyeh upon obtaining the consent of Intelligence Office of IRGC and receiving Safe Pass. However, he was arrested by the IRGC after three months on Feb 17, 2019.

Esmat (Mohammad) Salahshour from the Falkan village of Orumiyeh was arrested by security forces earlier in March 2017 and transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison after a month of interrogations. He was then sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment by branch 2 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh on the charge of cooperation with one of the Kurdish opposition parties. This verdict was upheld by Branch 13 of the Court of Appeal in February last year.

Mohammad Salahshour was transferred to the detention centre of the IRGC in Orumiyeh Central Prison earlier on Apr 20, 2019 but he was transferred back to Orumiyeh Central Prison after 15 days of interrogation.
