Kurdish Human Rights Network (KHRN): Sixteen Kurdish political prisoners in Iran’s prisons went on a three days hunger strike in solidarity with Kurdish political prisoners in Turkey who have been on hunger strike for the past several weeks.

According to information obtained by KHRN, Zainab Jalalian in Khoy Prison, Shakir Bagi in Kashmar Prison, Yousef Kakhemi and Ali Ahmad Soleiman in the Central Prison of Tabriz and Ali Yeganeh, Bashir Pirmavanah, Mostafa Sabizi, Touraj Ismaili, Kamal Hassan Ramadan, Ebrahim Isipur, Mohammad Salahshour, Ahmad Tamui, Hamid Rahimi, Rahim Mahmoudi, Peyman Mirzazadeh and Kamran Darvishi in Orumiyeh Central Prison participated in this three-day hunger strike.

It should be noted that the detained leader of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), Abdullah Ocalan, has been denied access to his lawyers following the completion of peace talks since August 5, 2011. In protest to the coduct of the Turkish government, Leyla Guven, a Turkish MP and the co-chair of the Democratic Society Party in Turkey, has been on hunger strike for the past 144 days. She has been released from prison under domestic and international pressure but she has continued her hunger strike. Currently, more than 7,000 Kurdish political prisoners held in Turkey prisons support her demands.

Earlier on January 05, 17, Kurdish political prisoners in various prisons of Iran went on a one-day hunger strike in solidarity with Leila Guven.
