Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN): The political prisoner “Javad Ahmadi”, who was hospitalized in Hospital on June 7, 2019 due to kidney disease, was transferred to the Orumiyeh Central Prison although his treatment had not been completed.

KHRN has been informed that this political prisoner, who had undergone surgery on Friday June 7 due to kidney disorder, was taken back to the Labour Ward of Orumiyeh Central Prison a day after undergoing surgery despite the doctor’s recommendation to be hospitalizied for one week.

It is worth mentioning that the labour ward is one of the dirtiest parts of the Orumiyeh Central Prison which lacks basic hygiene facilities and amenities and the transfer of Javad Ahmadi to this ward could affect his health condition and the recovery period after surgery.

Javad Ahmadi was arrested in the fall of 2015 by security forces and sentenced to 5 years in prison on charges of membership in a Kurdish opposition party. Due to the fact that this political prisoner did not contest the verdict against him and per the law of Submission to the Ruling, his sentence was finally reduced to three years and nine months in prison.

This political prisoner went on a hunger strike in 2017 in protest to non-compliance with the principle of Separation of Crimes. However, contrary to the promise of the prison authorities regarding his transfer to the political ward upon ending the protest, he was transferred back to the labour ward again.
