Kurdish Human Rights Network (KHRN): Kourosh (Salar) Pirzadegan, a Kurdish political prisoner, was released from prison following the acceptance of his request for conditional release. He was in prison since the autumn of 2017.

Kourosh Pirzadegan is from the Targoor region of Orumiyeh and he was detained at section 1-2 of Ordinary Prisoners’ Ward.

This political prisoner was arrested by security forces along with his two brothers, Miwan and Houshang Pirzadegan, in November 2015 and he was temporarily released after 35 days on bail.

The trial of these three brothers was held at Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court in Orumiyeh on charges of acting against national security in the summer of 2017. Kourosh Pirzadegan was sentenced to five years of imprisonment while Houshang and Miwan Pirzadegan were sentenced to one-year of imprisonment.

The verdict of Kourosh Pirzadegan was reduced to three years and nine months per the Law of ‘Surrendering to the Verdict’ since he did not contest the verdict. He and his two brothers were transferred to Orumiyeh Prison in the fall of 2017 to serve their sentence.
