Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN): Hamid Rahimi, a Kurdish political prisoner detained at Orumiyeh Central Prison, was released from prison after serving his prison term.

This political prisoner was deprived of the right to leave and conditional furlough during his 13-month prison term. Moreover, he was beaten by several prison officials following several days of political protest and strike in October.

This citizen of Orumieh was arrested last May by security forces in Orumiyeh and interrogated for 15 days at the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Centre in Orumiyeh. He was sentenced to 18 months of imprisonment last July on charges of cooperating with a Kurdish party by Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh. The verdict was referred to Branch 13 of the Orumiyeh Court of Appeal and reduced to 13 months of imprisonment.
