A Kurdish political prisoner serving a one-year prison sentence in Orumiyeh prison since March 21, 2019, has been deprived of any leaves, a source told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

The Intelligence unit of Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp (IRGC) detained Mohammad Asri Gangchin, from the village of Erbilan of Orumiyeh, on June 1 2018 and interrogated him at the Ramadan Detention Center for a month and 27 days.

After a month of interrogation at the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Centre in Orumiyeh, Gangchin was transferred to the Orumiyeh Central prison where he was finally released on a bail of 500 Million Tomans.

“After several months, Ali Sheikhlo, the Judge of Branch 2 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh, sentenced political prisoner Mohammad Asri Gangchin to 15 years in prison on charges of membership in the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and acting against national security,” a source told the KHRN.  

His case was eventually referred to the branch 1 of the Orumiyeh Revolutionary Court presided by Judge Chabok who sentenced him to one year in prison on charges of “acting against national security
