Yesterday morning, on Feb 20, a detained Kurdish cultural activist and artist Parisa Seifi has been transferred to Tohid Hospital in day 12 of her hunger strike at Sanandaj Correctional Center (Women’s Prison) due to her critical health condition, a reliable source told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

“Doctors at Tohid Hospital have reported her health to be in a very critical situation. The doctor attempted to put her on intravenous therapy but her body rejected this treatment.” the source added.

The source further stated that Parisa Seifi has been returned back to Sanandaj Correctional Center after several brief examinations. The family of this detained artist managed to meet her from behind the cabin this afternoon. In a meeting with her family, she announced that she would continue her strike despite the deterioration of her health and the insistence of doctors until her release and the end of her uncertain situation.

According to the source, Seifi’s family went to visit her when she was admitted to Tohid’s Hospital, but security forces besieged her room and prevented her family from meeting her.

Parisa Seifi has been on a hunger strike since February 8, in protest to the continued uncertainty about her situation and refusal of the authorities to release her on bail. She was transferred to the Sanandaj Court on February 18, but the judge postponed her trial and release on bail again.

She was arrested by security forces on November 12, and then transferred to the Shahramfar Detention Centre of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Sanandaj.
