Beryar Kaveh, Kurdish civilian from Nay village has been transferred to jail for serving his two-year sentence, an informed source told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

Beryar Kaveh, a 26-year-old man, was arrested by security forces on October 18, 2019, and transferred to Marivan prison after a month of interrogation at the Sanandaj Intelligence Bureau. He was eventually released from prison on bail on November 19.

He was sentenced to 5 years in prison by the Marivan Revolutionary Court in March last year on charges of “membership in the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI)”. The verdict was reduced to 2 years’ imprisonment by the Sanandaj Court of Appeal.

Kaveh was previously held for 1 year in prison on charges of “collaborating with one of the opposition Kurdish parties” when he was just 16 years old.
