Kurdish civilian Mohammad Sharif Salem  was sentenced to five years in prison on charges of “cooperation with one of the Kurdish opposition parties,” a source told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

Mohammad Sharif Salem was reportedly arrested by security forces on 10 September and interrogated at the Ministry of Intelligence Detention Centre in Orumiyeh for four days.

The hearing of Mohammad Sharif Salem from Dezaj village of Orumiyeh was held at branch 2 of Orumiyeh Revolutionary Court presided by Judge Ali Sheikhlu last week.

Salem was finally transferred to ward 4-3 of Orumiyeh Central Prison on September 15.
