A Kurdish civilian was acquitted of the charges by the Revolutionary Court of Marivan, a source confirmed to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

Salem Adwai, the supervisor of the sports hall of the village of Slen in Hawarmana, was summoned and detained a number of times for several hours by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Intelligence Service in Marivan.

“The hearing on the charges against the Kurdish civilian was held at the Marivan Revolutionary Court on September 18, 2019 and the verdict was served on him in the past few days.” the source confirmed.

According to the source, the security services accused Adwai of asking participants of a sports event to “hold a moment of silence in honour of the victims of Afrin city” in the Kurdistan of Syria prior to an event at the sports hall of the Slen village.

The charge is said to have been based on a complaint filed by the village’s militia against Salem Adwai.
