Kurdish civil rights activist and former member of the Green Party of Kurdistan Akbar Goyli, has been sentenced by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj to five years in prison on charges of “collaboration with the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK).”

The trial of this activist was held on Apr 14 at Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Hossein Saeedi, and the verdict was announced on Thursday, Apr 23.

Akbar Goyli was arrested by security forces after attending the Sanandaj Judiciary and transferred to the Ministry of Intelligence detention centre in Sanandaj on December 07. After being interrogated, he was transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison and was released on bail of 200 million Tomans in late February.

He had previously been arrested by security forces in Sanandaj on August 20 last year and he was released on September 7, on a bail of 500 million tomans.
