Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that a Kurdish civil activist ‘Weria Delangiz‘ has been sentenced to four months in prison and 24 lashes for “disturbing public order” by the Mariwan Criminal Court.

The trial of this activist was held at the criminal court of Marivan on March 3, 2020, and the verdict was served on him a few days ago.

Weria Delangiz was arrested in September 2017 after being summoned to the Marivan Intelligence Bureau but he was released on bail after serving 46 days. He had previously been acquitted of three other charges in a separate case heard at Marivan court.
