On Wednesday, January 22, security forces raided the home of Kurdish civil activist Fardin Moradi in Sanandaj and detained him while searching his home. He was taken to an unknown location.

As of the moment of setting up this news, no specific information was available on the charges and whereabouts of this civil society activist.

Fardin Moradi was also arrested by security forces earlier in September 2006 and sentenced to two years in prison and exile to Maragheh prison on charges of “collaboration with one of the Kurdish opposition parties”.

Contrary to the usual practice, his prison term was increased to three years in prison following an appeal to the Court of Appeal. He was eventually released from Sanandaj Central Prison after serving his three-year imprisonment sentence.
