A group of Kurdish border porters –known as Kolbar- were ambushed by the border guards in the Shushme border area of Paveh county. The forces detained the Kolbars and shot at their loads -before confiscating- which led to one Kolbar being wounded in his leg in addition to severely beating up one of the Kolbars who sustained injuries as a result, local sources told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

“Once border guards started shooting at the Kolbars’ loads (LED TVs), one of the Kolbars was shot in his leg when trying to put down his load. Kurdish Kolbar Peyman Abdi, who came to the aid of the injured Kolbar, was beaten by border guards.”, the source added.
36-year-old Peyman Abdi, a resident of Nawsood, was tortured by border guards with a baton and pepper spray. His cheekbones have been ruptured and he could not see due to the effect of pepper spray at the time of publishing this report. The Kolbar, who was wounded in the shooting, fled for fear of being detained and there is no exact information on his whereabouts. His identity is protected by the KHRN.
