In an interview Police News Station, Kermanshah frontier commander called the Kurdish border porters –known as Kolbar- who were targeted by the Nowsud Border Guards on Monday as “smuggler” and supported the operation forces under his supervision.

His statement came when the body a 20-year-old Kolbar, Shahed Adak from the village of Jivar, was handed over to his family after two days and it was buried while many villagers attended his burial ceremony. Rejecting the statements made by Kermanshah frontier commander, a Kolbar present at the night when the border forces shot at the Kolbars told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network that Kaley Sony Frontier had crossed Kalesony border for many years.

According to this Kolbar, hundreds of Kolbars travelling to the Zero Point on the night of the incident were ambushed by the border guards who shot at them from a close range at the Nusud Frontier Relay Station even though they knew that Kolbars were not carrying any load.
“This shooting resulted in the death of two Kolbars and injury of 7 others, so the frontier commander is trying to justify the shooting by calling Kolbars as smugglers. All these Kolbars are residents of border regions and they have been forced to turn into this job in order to make ends meet.”, he added.

According o the KHRN investigation into the death of several Kolbars, Iranian border guards have dragged the kolbars’ corpses to near zero points and made false reports to justify the killing of these kolbars who have no legal protection or rights.

The Iranian border gaurds at the Nowsud frontier heights targeted a group of Kolbars without prior warning on February 16. This incident led to the death of two kolbars “Ahmad Sahrayee” and “Shahed Adak” in addition to the injury of 7 other Kolbars including Azim Aminzadeh, Jabar Mohammadi, Zahid Nouri, Jalal Nouri, Taha Salmani and Rasoul Soleimani.
