During the past months two Kurdish students named Qader Abdullazade and Mohammad Razmavar were sentenced to five and one year in prison respectively by the branch two of Orumiyeh’s Revolutionary Court on charges of crimes against the national security,a Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) source said.
The source said that “ Muhammad Razmavar is from the city of Maku and he is a student at Orumiyeh university, Razamavar and 16 other Kurdish citizens were arrested by the Special Unit agents when they participated in a demonstration to support Kobane’s resistance against ISIS in October, 27 and 28, 2014. Razmavar was released on bail from Orumiyeh prison a few days after his arrest. In August 2015, branch two of Orumiyeh’s Revolutionary Court, sentenced Razmavar to one year imprisonment on charges of crimes against national security . After approval of his sentence by the Appeal Court, he was arrested again and sent to Orumiyeh Central prison to serve his sentence.”
“ Qader Abdullah Zade is from Orumiyeh and he is a student at Mahabad Azad university. He was arrested in September 2015 by the security forces and after spending one month in solitary confinement, was transferred to Uromiyeh Central prison.
In December 2015, the branch two of the Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh sentenced this Kurdish student to 5 years imprisonment on charges of crimes against national security. This is the severest punishment for a case such as this.”
This KHRN source said that ” Both students were sent to ward 3 and 4 of Orumiyeh central prison, where murderes and drug-traffickers are kept. They are in a very difficult condition now. They have requested to be transferred to ward 12, known as political prisoners ward, several times during the past months, but the prison authorities have rejected their request each time. ”
