Arasteh Ranjbar and Nazdar Vathnkhah, two Kurdish women sentenced to execution on the charge of murder, were hanged on On the morning of July 23, 2019 at Orumiyeh Central Prison.

Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has been informed that the two detainees were transferred to solitary confinement cells a day before their execution and executed on Tuesday morning with the presence of the victim’s “blood owners (Oliya-e-dam)”.

Last week, KHRN reported that these two female prisoners were at the risk of imminent execution.

“The two prisoners had been sentenced to execution in a joint case for “murder” about 15 years ago. Despite the efforts of the people and civil institutions in order to convince the victim’s family to show leniency, the verdict was ultimately enforced by the victim’s family.”, Orumiyeh prosecutor, Mostafa Habibi, confirmed in a TV channel in Orumiyeh.
