During the past few days, two citizens from the Kurdish town of Shno (also known in Farsi as Oshnavieh) were transferred from the Intelligence Ministry detention centre of Orumiyeh to Orumiyeh Central Prison.

“On Tuesday, 11 July 2017, two Kurdish citizens including Farooq Sharvirani and Ali Arasteh were transferred to the Prosecution Office of Shno Court and then to the Orumiyeh Central Prison after completing the interrogations at the Intelligence Ministry detention centre of Orumiyeh,” a reliable source told Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN).

“Farooq Sharvirani, (resident of Shno) was arrested by security forces in Shno on May 11 and was transferred to the Orumiyeh Intelligence detention centre. The Kurdish citizen was interrogated during this period on charges of membership in a Kurdish party. Another detainee called Ali Arasteh, who is a resident of Khorest village of Shno, was also arrested a while ago by security forces,” the source said.

These two detained citizens are currently held in Wards 3 & 4 allocated to non-political prisoners,” the source added.

Earlier on Saturday, 8 July 2017, two other Kurdish citizens including Amir Peyghami and Taher Khorshidi who were previously arrested by security forces in Shno were transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison after being held a month in solitary confinement at Intelligence Ministry detention centre in the city of Orumiyeh.
