Iranian intelligence agency officials summoned Kurdish student political prisoner Omid Dabakhchi Mukri in Mahabad prison on 17 October and told him that he was sentenced to four in prison by the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Mahabad, a local human rights activist told the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN)
The rights activist said that the intelligence officers told Dabakhi Mukri that his crimes were “gathering and conspiring to disrupt national security by cyber activity on social media and cooperation with Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK)”.
According to our sources: Omid Dabakhchi Mukri was born in 1982 in Mahabad and graduated in computer and management engineering.
He was arrested on 1 May; a day after widespread protests took place following the suspicious death of Kurdish hotel chambermaid Farinaz Khosrawani in Mahabad.
The Iranian security forces seized his computer, digital accessories and technological gadgets along with books and other personal belongings immediately after his arrest.
He was transferred to the detention facility of Mahabad’s intelligence agency.
For 76 days he was under torture and pressure to make fake confessions and take part in a TV interview, in which he would have confessed to crimes that he had never took part in committing.
The torture was so intense that on 7 July he was transferred to a hospital in the city of Oroumiyeh for special medical treatment. After 76 days he was transferred to the Mahabad prison.
He was sent to Branch One of the Mahabad Islamic Revolutionary Court for two trials, during which he did not plead guilty to any offences and denied all the charges brought against him.
He had a scholarship to study Masters degree in computer engineering at one of the elite universities in Tehran, but he was unable to register his name to enter university because of his imprisonment.
He participated in Computer Olympiad in 2000, 2001 and 2002 and was recognized as one of the elite students of computer science.
