A 35-year-old Kurdish woman from Saheb has lost her life due to self-immolation.
According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN), on Saturday, October 07, 2017, a young woman called “Fermisk Ahmad Zadeh” (Daughter of Rashid) married with two children, ended her life by self-immolation in her house in Saheb area (in Saqez) due to family problems.
The suicide rate is very high among the deprived people of Kurdistan in comparison with others due to the large scale of economical problems and widespread unemployment. The remarkable increase in suicide rate in Saqez has led to a wave of worry among people.
According to statistics released by KHRN, 60 people have ended their life by committing suicide only during the past two years.
